As part of its 100th birthday celebration, British Airways (BA) commissioned the creation of a Multisensory VR experience at the Saatchi Gallery in London from 1-26 August 2019. Built by multiple award-winning VR creators and an Oscar-winning practical effects team, Fly turns you into a time-travelling pilot, from the earliest imaginings of Leonard da Vinci and his ornithopter. Emanuela Maggioni is one of the producers of the Multisensory stimuli together with Charlotte Mikkelborg.

Marianna Obrist and Emanuela Maggioni were selected to talk and exhibited as part of the ERC stand at the Excite Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ecsite brings together more than 350 organisations committed to inspiring people with science. Ecsite, the European network of science centres and museums, was created in 1990. Ecsite’s mission is to inspire and empower science centres, museums and all organisations that engage people with science, and to promote their actions. We exhibited the TreeVR demo created by New Reality Co, while promoting multisensory experience design.

Through a collaboration with Prof Roberto Trotta and his team at the Imperial College London, audiences experienced a multisensory installation of dark matter on two occasions, first at the Science Museum Lates event on 31 October 2018 and then as part of the Imperial Exhibition Festival on 29-30 June 2019. Whilst relaxing in a dedicated space, audiences travelled on a journey across the galaxy, narrated through their senses of touch, taste, smell, and sound. This installation made use of Ultrahaptics technology for mid-air touch stimulation, and OWidgets scent-delivery technology.
